Comparative Analysis of Methods for Surgical Treatment of Ankyloglossia: A Review Article

Aim: Ankyloglossia is a congenital oral anomaly characterized by short frenulum of the tongue, which can cause nutritional, speech, and developmental problems. The limited movement tongue may lead to development various anomalies dentition. Thus, purpose this work compare existing methods for surgical treatment ankyloglossia that involve either laser technologies or scalpels. Methods: We analyzed literature sources about patients with treated methods, such as use scalpel, diode laser, CO 2 Er:YAG Nd:YAG laser. Results: results showed lasers have multiple advantages over scalpel: bloodless surgery, provides good visualization surgery field; no need suturing; reduction inflammation pain in postoperative period due bactericidal properties laser; minimal scar tissue; decreased time. Conclusion: technique an alternative conventional and, considering upper mentioned benefits, it be stated beam more effective than scalpel scissors.
